18 Weeks Untill IronMan

I am now starting to train hard. I am loving it. Jo and Dave are my trainers and both of them kick my butt. Dave is a swim coach from the dark side who has no mercy, i love it. And Jo is the sweetest looking little lady on the outside but rocks my world with her killer workouts. She has become my muse. She is most likely in her 50's and still rocking Iron Man Kona. Plus she skis everyday. The new year is here and it is nice to not have to put, get in shape on my list. I am in great shape and as long as I can keep my heart and brain from giving me fits I will be great. I am so motivated right now and looking forward to Arizona Rock and Roll Marathon.

Day 2 of Iron Man Training

I am in day 2 of training and things are going great. I am highly motivated. I wish that I did not have this lingering cold. It was a wake up on how important it is for me to stay healthy and not get sick. I have gotten my flumist and I am waiting for my H1N1 mist (one of the perks of working for the manufacture). I love my new swim coach he is great at pushing me and improving my stroke. I have only had one session with Jo my tri coach, she seems great. This is the first time I have ever had a coach, I am exited to work with her.

THE LABYRINTH

My Cute Friend Mindy invited me to her amazing fitness retreat at Red Mountain St. George and We walked the Labyrinth last night. I found this to be a meditation routine that I loved. It was a rock labyrinth set in the red mountains of the desert. We walked in the dusk with gas lanterns surrounding the area. If you have never done a labyrinth, find one and check it out, or better yet walk quietly through life thinking to yourself- turn the i pod off for once.
Some general guidelines for walking a labyrinth are:

1. Focus: Pause and wait at the entrance. Become quiet and centered. Give acknowledgment through a bow, nod, or other gesture and then enter.

2. Experience: Walk purposefully. Observe the process. When you reach the center, stay there and focus several moments. Leave when it seems appropriate. Be attentive on the way out.

3. Exit: Turn and face the entrance. Give an acknowledgement of ending, such as "Amen."

4. Reflect: After walking the labyrinth reflect back on your experience. Use journaling or drawing to capture your experience.

5. Walk often.

MIRROR mirror ON the WALL

Today started out as one of those perfect mornings were everything seems to run so smooth. The baby slept in, I got my morning emails done, and I thought that I would reward myself with a ZUMBA class. I love going to these "types" of classes. You know the one were you dance around the room and in some strange way you feel like you are dancing in a club, or prepping to be on Dancing with the Stars. This "type" of class has always ALWAYS been a reward for me. I rairly make it to them, since they seem to only be for stay at home moms or well kept woman, because the only seem to fall in the time range of 9-11 am, you know the perfect time for "them".

Today I went and thought that I would have the time of my life. I walked into the room and started to warm up. Then the teacher walked in, a tan, chiseled size 2 teacher with a rack only a plastic surgeon could have provided. I stood up to get ready and there it was...me. I looked in the mirror at my body in motion, moving in a way that it has for so many years. I have always looked at myself in the mirror and for most of my life enjoyed what was looking back at me. Today, I did not. I felt horror, I felt as if I did not fit in with this "type". I refuse to let myself feel this way, for I know that I have a few lbs on me right now, but I had to have a strong self talk back to reality. I told myself of all the wonderful things my body dose for me and how it is strong, has children with ease, is rarely sick, always lets me push it to the limits.

I then went on to run 4 miles over lunch. Outside, without a mirror, or other to compare myself to. I had no tunes, and only the river and water falls to listen to. On this run I thought of nothing, just ran it was wonderful. Just me and my fabulous body. Thanks body for never letting me down, even when I am so critical of you.

Eat up- Swiss Oats

I have found a favorite food to fuel my body in the morning. I train early and I am always trying to be in stealth mode not to wake up the sleeping babies. This breakfast can be made the night before and it sits well on my stomach.

Swiss Oats:
1/2 Cup Oats
4oz of skim milk or Soy
1T of honey
Cinnamon
Salt

*Mix all of this and allow to soak in refrigerator, covered, overnight.

*In the morning add in any variety of fresh or dried fruit. (I also add in 2T of flax meal)
*I also love greek yogart on the top to add a creamy yumminess to it.

YUM YUM!!!

My hour, My music, My thoughts

today I went out for a hour run. I thought about how much i love going on runs when i am by myself. i used to hate to run by myself because i could only focus on the pain, weird breathing, feet pounding and the incline of the hill. today i focused on my goals and how i would acomplish them, i was in the zone of thought having deep conversations with myself. it was my type of meditation and just what i needed after a LONG week.

YEA- Jason bought a BIKE

Yesterday Jason went on his first virgin ride on his new TIME bike. I am so exited. We dropped him off while we headed out to farmers market and met him home. He rode an average of 20 miles per hour. I can't wait to ride with him. It looks like we will be doing the Heber Century together. He is built like a biker, strong legs, lean body and great endurance. I hope he enjoys his new found toy.

80 miles of Fun

Yesterday I did little red. It is the best ride. I love having a ride with all woman riding to cure cancer. I did this ride with two of my good friends Mindy and Brandy. We had so much fun (well I did, I hope my friends did). This was Brandy's first ride and I am so proud of her for doing it. She survived (which I knew she would) and it was Mindy's longest ride EVER. Way to go girls!!!! The pics below just show a little of ALL the fun that we had.

down 4 lbs up 1 lb

So I hate the up and down game when you are trying to lose weight. I did eat two pieces of cake and should know by now that a girl my size can not eat cake and expect not to gain a lb. Lesson learned. Goal is to get to goal weight and then limit sweet treats.

So Proud

I am so proud of myself...to some it may not seem like a big acomplishment, but I have worked out for 9 days in a row and it feels amazing. I know that I am at my worst physical shape ever and by taking note in these small accomplishments is a must. Everyday I better my body is a win for me.

Monday Madness

Today was a great day of get out their and move. I love holidays for this reason, but I hate them for the food. I started the day with weights and a 2mi run then headed out on a 2mi hike up mill creek with the kids, we had a blast and then finished the day off with a BBQ and Smores. I wore my body bugg and burned just a little over 24000 cal for the day, that is a heavy burn day, but I never stopped moving.

RUNNING in the RAIN

Jason forgave me for lossing his phone and we went on a amazing run together today in the rain. Their is something about running in the rain that leaves you feeling refreshed and at peace with your surroundings. I love the smell of rain and the way the clouds make the light soft and everything looks so bright. The run was a little hard, I am starting to get my endurance back, but I was thankful that Jason pushed the stroller with Beck, I think that pushing the stroller would have pushed me over the top. I love running with Jason, it gives us time to just be together, I love when we are toghether.

Saterday Virgin Ride

There is nothing better than getting up before the rest of the world and hopping on your bike and having a great friend right beside you. Today Mindy and I did our virgin ride of the season and it was fabulous. We did a flat area down 7th east and rode flats for close to 30miles. It was fast and fun, my butt feels it a little, but everything else is happy that it went. The bummer thing is I lost Jason's phone and my kit...hope someone likes it. Thanks Mindy for a great ride and even better conversation.

First week back into action.

This was my first week back to running and trying to see what my new heart can do. i exercised everyday this week and I FEEL AMAZING. I never realized how much I love to move my body, even though it is moving at a rate much slower then i am used to and that it is so jello-y from not lifting anything for so long. i loved this week. I was able to run with a good friend of mine in Vegas on Monday and he kicked my butt..he likes to keep a little better then a 9min mile and I was so struggling, but it was still awesome to feel the push. I love to have someone to push you just a little bit harder then your own self is willing to push you. WOW, what a great week, I can't wait keep going..little red riding hood is this coming weekend and it should be a blast with all the girls riding our bikes.

I DID IT AND WILL DO IT!!!!

So I did it I sighned up for IRONMAN. I am so exited and so scared at the same time. I think that it will be an amazing thing for me to do. I will run this race on May 1, 2010..so a year from now. WOW!!!! I am just soooo exited.

The BIG mufftop

well after going through heart surgery and a month of recovery, the mufftop has taken on a new size and it is bigger than ever. I just received the best news from my cardiologist that I can now resume activity. I ran today (around 3 miles) and walked 1 mile. I am so exited to get back into the grove of doing what I love to do...moving my body. I lost so much muscle mass during this two month period, I also managed to gain 10 lbs. I have to get back to discipline and action. I feel like I have been given a second chance and a new heart to prove it. It was a wakening to eat healthy and take care of the body that blesses me every day with life.

Stress and Girl Scout cookies

so one could say that I have been a little or a lot stressed the past couple of weeks. My company is going through lay offs or what they like to call an exercise. It has me so frazzeled I can't believe it. I have lost most of my mojo to do much of anything, but try to wake up and stay focused at work. that being said I have not been getting up early and hitting the gym,,,and i am getting fatter flabbier and weaker every moment. I know that I will so regret this when I go to do Iron Girl. I need to regroup bad. Well the only thing that I have been taking comfort in is food, and the number one comfort food this time of year is girl Scout cookies dame those little brownies and their friends for making such yummy cookies and being so cute that i cant resist buying from them. Well chalk it all up. the good news is this will pass, the cookies will be gone soon and I will know about my job soon. AHHh maybe then I will be able to breath again.

March 1st

Sunday- Oh how I love Sunday, it is when a new week starts over, and for me it feels like the new year. A time to start over and forget all of the bad things that I did to my body the week before. So Tomorrow...I will start the day out with a great workout, a 1 hour swim and a 2 hour bike ride. I soooo hope that the weather is great so that I might be able to get the bike in outside. I am GOING off sugar. I have been a very bad girl lately and I have found that I can not go a day with out a treat so I am going off sugar for the month of March. Wish me luck, I totally am a sugar aholic, my body craves it.

SICK and SICK again

It has been a long 2 weeks of having this cold that is killing me. I also had a bacterial infection that I could not kick. So I decided to take time off and try to heel. Well I think that I am finally there. The only down fall is that I feel like I am two weeks behind in my training...but I need to get that thought out of my mind, because what would training be like if I was training with a sick and unhealthy body. I think that it is so important to take the rest periods in your training, and my body always seems to let me know when to STOP. I usually don't get sick very often, but I think the combination of local virology and stress from my company going through layoffs is what did me in. So time to put the body bugg back on (not that i should have taken it off because i was sick, but I like to know more what I am burning during workouts). Time to go to the store and get "training food" whole grains & lean meats time to clean out the gym bag and re stock it. Time to look at the calender and see what I can fit in. I have 10 weeks to go until my first race of the new season. Wish me luck and pray for me not to get sick.

OpeNed tHis BLog Up

I decided to open this blog up. Why, well i feel that there are so many of us who are out there who struggle with working out and staying healthy. This is my blog that I use to post all of my frustrations and all of my success's with working out, dieting, and striving to stay healthy. This will be a honest blog and if you comment please keep it that way. i will try to motivate at most times, but guess what I too get in a rut and hate to stay on track. enjoy the blog and join me in my training. I am currently training for Iron Girl and started this week. I hope to have a personal beast time for this Race. Wish me luck in my training...so far so good (except for my dang cold)

Doing Good.

I am now in day 3 of my training for Iron Girl. I have told myself that I will reward myself with a new camra lens if i reach 120 and train for 6 days in a row. This is hard for me when I am just starting out, and when it is Febuary (I have such a hard time waking up in the winter).
